KISS will take the stage without their iconic makeup during the highly anticipated “KISS Army Storms Vegas” event in Las Vegas, Gene Simmons has confirmed. This performance will mark the band’s first show since they concluded their farewell tour in 2023. The event, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the KISS Army fan club, will span three days later this year at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
In an interview with Greater Milwaukee Today, Simmons revealed that the band had decided to perform without their signature stage makeup. “We will not do the makeup,” Simmons said. “We will hold true to the promise [of never playing another KISS show in makeup]. There’s no stage show. There’s no crew. We won’t have 60 people levitating drum sets and all that stuff. This is more of a personal gathering, where we meet the fans, greet them, and maybe have a Q&A.”
While the show won’t feature the usual KISS theatrics, Simmons mentioned that there could be tribute bands involved in what he described as “almost like a convention.” He emphasized that this event will be much more intimate, allowing for personal interactions with fans. He also hinted that the band would still play live, though the setlist and duration of the performance remain undecided. “Of course, we can’t get by without playing, so we’ll get up and do some tunes,” Simmons added.
The official announcement for the KISS Army Storms Vegas event confirmed that Simmons, along with Paul Stanley and “special guests,” would be performing, but did not mention Tommy Thayer or Eric Singer. This leaves fans wondering if the two current members will be part of the reunion show.
