In a recent interview with Metal Express Radio, Rainbow vocalist Ronnie Romero opened up about the band’s future and the possibility of collaborating with Ritchie Blackmore again. Romero shared his thoughts, stating, “I don’t think that [writing songs with Ritchie Blackmore] is going to happen again because he is on a different path right now.” He went on to explain that Blackmore is currently focused on his medieval folk-rock project, Blackmore’s Night.
Romero also expressed doubt about any future Rainbow performances, citing Blackmore’s health and age as key factors. “I don’t think any other Rainbow show is going to happen,” Romero added. “Obviously because of his health and his age. I don’t see him moving out of his comfort zone.”
Currently, Rainbow remains on hiatus, with Blackmore concentrating on Blackmore’s Night. Recent reports have raised concerns about the guitarist’s well-being. Blabbermouth reported that Blackmore recently underwent surgery for uric acid buildup in his finger joint, and he continues to deal with ongoing arthritis issues, which further explain Romero’s concerns about his ability to return to Rainbow.
