In a significant move, TWISTED SISTER has sold its remaining recording copyrights, trademarks, and all other associated rights—such as name, image, and likeness—to Warner Music Group, as reported by Forbes. The exact terms of the deal have not been revealed to the public.
For decades, TWISTED SISTER guitarist and manager Jay Jay French had a hands-on role in managing the band’s business operations. Speaking to Forbes contributor Lewis Schiff, French shared that the decision to sell the rights in September 2024 was influenced by multiple factors. He pointed to the aging of the band members and the fact that none of their children were interested in continuing the family legacy with TWISTED SISTER.
This sale to Warner Music Group comes nearly ten years after lead singer Dee Snider sold his 69-song music catalog, which includes the band’s iconic anthems “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock,” to Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).
The songs in Snider’s catalog have become pop culture staples, appearing in national commercials, films, television shows, and even the Broadway musical Rock Of Ages. This musical had a remarkable three-year run at the Venetian before moving to a one-year residency at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, which concluded in January 2017.
