After more than five decades, the original members of the ALICE COOPER band are making a thunderous return to the studio. Alice Cooper himself is reuniting with guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith for their first studio album in over 50 years. Titled “The Revenge Of Alice Cooper,” the highly anticipated record will be released on July 25 via earMUSIC.
What makes this release even more poignant is the posthumous appearance by late guitarist Glen Buxton, who passed away in 1997 at age 49. The track “What Happened To You” was constructed using a guitar riff from an old demo Buxton and Dunaway created together. Additionally, fans will get a revamped version of “Return Of The Spiders 2025,” a bonus remix of a song from their 1970 album Easy Action.
Produced by iconic Alice Cooper collaborator Bob Ezrin, the album draws deep roots from the band’s classic era. Ezrin previously produced legendary Cooper albums such as Killers (1971), School’s Out (1972), and Billion Dollar Babies (1973), and has remained a steady hand in Cooper’s solo projects.
The 14-track album launches with its first single, “Black Mamba,” debuting on April 22 via Cooper’s radio show, Alice’s Attic. The single even features a guest appearance by THE DOORS’ Robby Krieger, adding to the album’s nostalgic yet edgy vibe.
Reflecting on the reunion, Cooper shared with Billboard:
“It was very much like this was our next album after [1973’s] Muscle Of Love, just like, ‘Okay, this is the next album.’ Isn’t that funny after 50 years? All of a sudden it just falls into place.”
Ezrin also commented on the chemistry between the band members:
“None of them has changed much as a person… They just revert to type. They revert to who they were as kids when they first got together… and make music together like they did 50-some years ago.”
So, will the original ALICE COOPER band tour again? The answer is… maybe.
“We haven’t even gotten to that point yet,” said Cooper. “I don’t really see it being a full-out tour… But I could see it being a feature, like going into certain cities — Detroit, New York, L.A., London maybe… and doing a half-hour or 40 minutes in a club or something. We always leave those things open, and if it looks feasible, then we do it.”
