Ted Nugent is setting the record straight about his future on the road. In a new YouTube video, the outspoken rock icon addressed growing speculation surrounding his touring status after his ‘Adios Mofo ’23’ farewell tour.
“I’m trying to answer all these questions that come in. I get bombarded with all these questions. I try to answer as many as I can,” Nugent said. “They say, ‘You said you weren’t going to tour anymore. You were going to retire.’”
But Nugent insists that retirement isn’t the issue—it’s the grind of traditional touring that he’s walking away from.
“I didn’t say I was going to retire. I said I wasn’t going to tour anymore, which means leaving home in a bus or on the airplanes and going to airports and going by the TSA and going to a hotel,” he explained. “I’m allergic to travel and hotels.”
Rather than disappear from the stage entirely, Nugent plans to play selective shows, skipping the headaches of commercial travel.
“So I got buddies with helicopters and jets and I’m going to do Ted Nugent ruched about speakeasies with Jon Kutz on drums, Jason Heartless on drums,” he added.
His statement clarifies the difference between grueling tour life and exclusive live performances, likely closer to home or via private transport.
While some fans assumed his 2023 farewell marked a full exit from the music scene, Nugent’s recent remarks reveal a new chapter focused on freedom, flexibility, and raw rock energy.
