KISS frontman Paul Stanley has ignited a wave of excitement in the rock world by celebrating David Lee Roth’s comeback to live music, calling the performance a total win.
After a five-year break from full concerts, the iconic Van Halen vocalist took the spotlight once again on Saturday, May 3, 2025, during the M3 Rock Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Roth delivered a 75-minute set packed with Van Halen classics, backed by guitarist Al Estrada and four energetic backing vocalists.
The day after the event, Paul Stanley took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his unfiltered reaction:
“I watched Diamond Dave’s return at M3 Festival and LOVED IT! Looks Great. Great staging. Great band. Great vibe. The whole thing was cool. Back-up posse too. Check it all out on YouTube. Welcome Back Dave!! @DavidLeeRoth”
The 70-year-old rock icon kicked off the night with the fan-favorite “Panama”, followed by legendary hits like “You Really Got Me,” “Dance The Night Away,” “Runnin’ With The Devil,” “Jamie’s Cryin’,” and “Hot For Teacher”, before closing the set with the crowd-pleaser “Jump”.
The surprise resurgence of Roth—often known for his larger-than-life persona and onstage flair—has reignited interest in the classic rock scene and sparked debates among fans and critics alike. Whether it’s nostalgia or true showmanship, one thing’s clear: Diamond Dave is back, and he’s bringing the house down.
