Just days before Ozzy Osbourne takes the stage for what may be the final performance by Black Sabbath, Judas Priest has released a studio cover of the iconic “War Pigs” in tribute to the heavy metal pioneers.
Though Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Richie Faulkner, Andy Sneap, Ian Hill, and Scott Travis will not be performing at the “Back To The Beginning” farewell event in Birmingham, UK this Saturday, the band is showing their love for Sabbath in their own powerful way.
A Studio Tribute to Metal Royalty
Originally released in 1970 on the “Paranoid” album, “War Pigs” has long been a staple of heavy metal history—and a walk-on anthem for Judas Priest’s own live shows. Now, the band has officially dropped their studio version of the song, complete with a performance video.
“We are honored to show our love for Ozzy and BLACK SABBATH with our homage of ‘War Pigs’, a song we play at every show around the world that fans sing along to, reinforcing their love as well for the legendary Prince Of Darkness!” said the band in an official statement.
The tribute comes at an emotionally charged time for the heavy metal community, as fans prepare to say goodbye to Black Sabbath’s final chapter with Ozzy at the helm.
A Metal Milestone
With decades of shared history and influence between the two bands, this cover isn’t just a musical gesture—it’s a cross-generational salute from one titan of metal to another. Judas Priest’s rendition breathes new life into the Sabbath classic, offering fans both nostalgia and celebration.
