Ozzy Osbourne may have taken his final bow on stage, but behind the scenes, he was far from finished. Just 17 days before his passing on Tuesday, July 22nd, the 76-year-old rock legend performed what was billed as his final live show in his hometown of Birmingham, England. But according to new reports, the “Prince of Darkness” had no plans of slowing down creatively.
Final Show — But Not the End
Dubbed “Back to the Beginning,” Ozzy’s farewell concert at Villa Park was a symbolic sendoff to live performances. However, it was not a retirement party.
“Ozzy saw Villa Park as the farewell on his live shows, not his career,” an insider told the Daily Mail.
Indeed, the iconic Black Sabbath frontman had several projects still in motion — including a brand-new album produced by Andrew Watt, scheduled for release later this year.
“With the memoir, album, and TV shows, there was a lot more for him to focus on this year alone,” the source added. “Ozzy was always like, ‘This is not the f*cking end… I have got stuff to do.’”
Upcoming Memoir and TV Projects
Osbourne’s long-awaited memoir, “Last Rites,” is set to be released in October. The book will chronicle his extraordinary life, his decades-spanning career, and his health battles, including recent struggles with Parkinson’s disease and chronic pain.
He was also starring in a new Paramount Plus feature-length documentary titled “Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now.” Meanwhile, his family was set to return to reality TV with a new BBC series called “Home to Roost.”
The insider shared, “He was looking forward to promoting the book later this year. He found the whole process quite therapeutic and fun.”
A Legend to the End
Ozzy Osbourne was known not just for his groundbreaking music but also for his resilience. In recent years, he overcame serious health challenges, including neck and spine issues, leg surgery, and the effects of Parkinson’s — all while continuing to entertain fans on TV, radio, and beyond.
“He was a born entertainer and he overcame so much in his final years alive,” the source said.
