The entire rock and metal community — and far beyond — is in mourning following the death of Ozzy Osbourne at the age of 76. Often hailed as the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy was more than just a musician; he was a global cultural icon whose legacy defied boundaries.
Just weeks before his passing, Ozzy delivered a stirring farewell performance in his hometown of Birmingham, sharing the stage with his Black Sabbath bandmates and some of rock’s biggest names. That concert, held at Villa Park, became the largest charity music event of all time — a fitting final bow for one of music’s most legendary figures.
Tony Iommi: “There won’t ever be another like him”
Guitarist Tony Iommi, Ozzy’s longtime bandmate and friend, posted a deeply emotional statement on social media:
“I just can’t believe it! My dear, dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park. It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother. My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz.”
Bill Ward: “Never goodbye… Thank you forever”
Drummer Bill Ward, often the quietest member of Sabbath, shared a poetic and heart-wrenching tribute:
“Where will I find you now? In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls… no, you’re forever in my heart. Deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members. RIP. Sincere regrets to all the fans. Never goodbye. Thank you forever.”
Geezer Butler: “4 kids from Aston… who’d have thought?”
Bassist Geezer Butler kept his words simple but powerful, reflecting on the band’s humble beginnings:
“Goodbye dear friend — thanks for all those years — we had some great fun. 4 kids from Aston — who’d have thought, eh? So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston. Love you.”
