In a recent interview with WZLX’s Kenny Young, legendary guitarist Joe Perry reignited fans’ hopes about a possible final Aerosmith concert — just one year after the band officially announced their retirement from touring.
The original announcement, made on August 2, 2024, followed the news that Steven Tyler had sustained a serious vocal injury. In September 2023, the now-77-year-old frontman suffered a larynx fracture during a live show, which ultimately led to the cancellation of their farewell tour.
Speaking about the possibility of Aerosmith returning to the stage one last time, Perry said:
“We’re actually talking quite a bit. I know our touring days are over, but… I don’t know… We’re all flesh and blood… I don’t know, man. I would say, at some point … we will all be together on the same stage… If I was a betting man, which I am, I would say, at some point something’s gonna happen. But we’ll see.”
The quote, transcribed by WZLX, reveals that although nothing is officially planned, the conversation about one final performance is still very much alive among the band members.
Steven Tyler Returns to the Stage at Charity Event
Though Aerosmith hasn’t toured recently, Steven Tyler did make a surprise appearance at BLACK SABBATH’s “Back To The Beginning” charity concert. There, he joined a powerhouse group of musicians and performed three unforgettable songs.
Tyler teamed up with Ron Wood, Nuno Bettencourt, Tom Morello, Andrew Watt, Rudy Sarzo, and Travis Barker to deliver a fiery rendition of “The Train Kept-A-Rollin’.”
For the next two songs — Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” and Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” — Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers replaced Barker on drums, keeping the energy sky-high.
Final Thoughts
While Aerosmith’s official touring days may be over, Joe Perry’s comments hint that the final chapter might not have been written just yet. Fans will no doubt be watching closely — hoping for that one last encore.
