In a recent interview with Louder Sound, Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale opened up about her admiration for Wolfgang Van Halen, praising not only his humility but also his growing influence in modern rock.
Hale, known for her powerhouse vocals and outspoken passion for the genre, spoke candidly about Wolfgang’s role in continuing his legendary father’s musical legacy while carving out a powerful path of his own.
“He [Wolfgang Van Halen] is a humble kid, there’s none of that ‘I’m a rock star’s kid’ stuff,” Hale said. “I’ve met quite a few of those guys that think that they’re better than everybody else because their dad was famous. That’s never been Wolfie.”
A Visit to 5150 Studios: A Look Into Eddie Van Halen’s Legacy
Lzzy also shared a touching story about visiting the iconic 5150 Studios, once the creative home of the late Eddie Van Halen.
“He took us to 5150 [Studios] and it still had all the tapes up there,” she continued. “There was Jump, the old analogue tapes, everything marked, everything organized to a T. And we’re like: ‘Are we supposed to be in here?’ He’s like: ‘Oh yeah, dad won’t mind’ I’m like, this isn’t just anybody’s dad’s garage!”
The moment clearly left an impression on Hale, highlighting the importance of Wolfgang’s roots and the legacy he continues to honor.
“He’s Gonna Save Rock ‘n’ Roll”
Hale didn’t hold back her excitement about Wolfgang’s future in the genre.
“I think he and his band are gonna save rock ‘n’ roll,” she said. “He’s a part of that small club of rock stars that are like: ‘Hey, you are more than welcome to be a part of this cool thing that we’re doing, but we don’t need you, we’re gonna do it anyway.’”
Her remarks reflect the growing sentiment in the rock community: Wolfgang Van Halen isn’t just following in his father’s footsteps—he’s building his own legacy.
