Rumors on social media suggest that longtime Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres may have retired from the band. However, no official statement has been issued. The speculation began after music journalist Mitch Lafon shared his take on the chatter.
In a recent post, Lafon addressed the situation directly:
“Another day. Another hot rumor. Apparently, Tico Torres has retired from Bon Jovi. I asked everybody I knew that might know… and no one can confirm. So… this stays as unconfirmed rumor.”
The story gained more traction after The Bon Jovi Talk Podcast picked it up. The hosts pointed to recent comments hinting at major lineup changes.
“Wait… Has Tico retired? Apparently David said in the latest podcast with Jon that he and Jon started when they were 16 and now they’re the only two remaining in the band. If Tico is done, that’s the band done. Tico is the heart and soul of the band,” the podcast’s social media account posted.
If true, Torres’s departure would mark a major moment in Bon Jovi’s history. As a founding member since 1983, he has been a driving force in the band’s sound for more than four decades. Torres joined Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, and Alec John Such to form the lineup that produced legendary albums like Slippery When Wet and New Jersey.
His career achievements include induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 with Bon Jovi. Before joining the band, he had already performed with Pat Benatar, Cher, and Alice Cooper, contributing to 26 albums before 1983. His seasoned experience helped shape Bon Jovi’s early hits.
Outside music, Torres enjoys golf, horseback riding, sculpting, and painting, and he even holds a pilot’s license. According to Mabumbe, his estimated net worth stands at $20 million.
The band has seen several lineup changes over the years, but if Torres steps away, Jon Bon Jovi and David Bryan would remain the only original members. For fans, the possible exit of their drummer would be more than a personnel change — it would be the end of an era.
