The rock world continues to mourn the loss of Ace Frehley, the original KISS guitarist, who passed away at the age of 74. Fellow musician Adam Bomb has now shared new details surrounding the circumstances of Frehley’s tragic death — revealing that it followed two separate falls that ultimately led to a fatal brain injury.
A Tragic Chain of Events
In a heartfelt post shared on Adam Bomb’s official Facebook page, the guitarist revealed information he learned from Fifi Larue, who had spoken with KISS drummer Eric Singer just weeks prior.
According to Bomb, Frehley’s first fall occurred inside his home studio, where he slipped and tumbled down a flight of stairs. Despite the scare, Frehley texted Singer to assure him that he was fine.
“Apparently Ace fell down some stairs in his home studio,” Bomb wrote. “He texted Eric and said he was OK – nothing to worry about.”
Unfortunately, tragedy struck again just days later.
“Around two days ago, he fell down again, I’m guessing the same flight of stairs, hit his head again, and had to be airlifted by helicopter out of his home to the hospital where he was in a coma, upon arrival,” Bomb said. “It’s hard to say why he was alone or what caused him to fall down the stairs according to Fifi.”
Doctors reportedly determined that the second fall caused severe head trauma, leading to a brain bleed that Frehley could not recover from.
Personal Reflections on Ace’s Life
Adam Bomb also reflected on Frehley’s later years, touching on his personal relationships and struggles.
“I’m a little sad that Ace broke up with his girlfriend that used to post all those live videos and Walmart videos and all that fun cool stuff that showed you how human Ace Frehley really was,” Bomb shared.
He mentioned that Frehley had ongoing personal complications, including a separation that was never legally finalized. While the personal circumstances remain unclear, Bomb’s comments painted a portrait of a lonely and complex final chapter in Frehley’s life.
The Final Hours
According to Bomb’s post, Frehley’s condition deteriorated rapidly after the second fall. He was airlifted to a New Jersey hospital, where he was placed in a coma upon arrival.
“It doesn’t take a medical professional to know if you have to be airlifted to the nearest hospital in New Jersey, it’s obviously deadly serious,” Bomb wrote.
Frehley was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m. (New York City time) on October 16, 2025.
At the time of his passing, Frehley had already canceled several 2025 tour dates due to earlier medical concerns stemming from the first accident.
Messages to Fellow KISS Members
Adam Bomb also expressed deep sympathy toward Frehley’s former KISS bandmates Tommy Thayer, Gene Simmons, and Paul Stanley.
“I wrote to Tommy to offer my love and support… I also wrote to Gene but I don’t have a personal contact email for him. Maybe he’ll see it, maybe he won’t,” Bomb shared.
He urged Simmons to honor Frehley’s legacy with a meaningful gesture.
“I really want him to plant 10,000 trees in Israel in honor of Ace Frehley,” he wrote. “If I had the money, I would do it myself.”
Bomb also noted that KISS members had yet to release official statements but believed they were “grieving deeply” in private.
A Final Tribute
Bomb closed his statement with an emotional tribute to his late friend and idol.
“From this day forward, Ace Frehley deserves the total respect of his creation,” he said. “The world mourns and the world celebrates you, Ace. You’re one of a kind. Say hi to Johnny and Claire. I’ll see you when I get old enough to get in. God Speed to Paul ‘Ace’ Frehley.”
The End of an Era
Ace Frehley’s passing marks the end of an era for rock and roll. As the original KISS lead guitarist, his influence defined the sound and image of one of the most iconic bands in music history.
Known for his fiery solos, signature “Spaceman” persona, and innovative tone, Frehley inspired generations of guitarists and remained a larger-than-life figure in rock culture.
Despite personal struggles and health challenges, Frehley continued performing well into his seventies, staying true to his love of music until his final days.
