Radio host and longtime friend of Ace Frehley, Eddie Trunk, has shared emotional details about the KISS legend’s funeral and revealed early discussions about organizing a fan tribute concert in his honor. Trunk took to Instagram to update fans following Frehley’s passing earlier this month.
Ace Frehley Laid to Rest in His Hometown
Ace Frehley, the iconic original guitarist of KISS, was laid to rest on October 22 in the Bronx, New York — the same neighborhood where he grew up. The private funeral followed a memorial service held a day earlier at the Sinatra Memorial Home in Yonkers.
Trunk, who attended both services, described the ceremonies as intimate gatherings attended by close family, friends, and the three surviving members of KISS — Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss.
“It’s been a crazy week or two, as you guys all know. Today, Ace Frehley was laid to rest in a cemetery in the Bronx, NY, where he grew up and very close to where his parents were buried, which was his wish,” Trunk said.
“Obviously, the rock world continues to mourn the passing of Ace. I know I certainly do.”
The services were private and invitation-only, according to reports, with roughly 75 attendees, most of them musicians and friends who had played or recorded with Frehley throughout his career.
Plans for a Fan Tribute Concert
Trunk revealed that he has been in early talks about organizing a fan tribute concert to celebrate Frehley’s life and music. However, he made it clear that such a project will only move forward with the full support of Frehley’s family.
“I have explored and already explored the idea of doing some sort of fan tribute concert for Ace. I think he’d love that. I think he deserves that,” Trunk said.
“I would never even attempt to do something like that without the approval of his family. And I can tell you that today, after the services, I did speak with his daughter, his niece, and his wife, and discussed the idea, and they fully endorsed it and fully gave me the thumbs up to explore it at some point and to do it.”
Too Soon for Concrete Plans
Trunk made it clear that the idea is still in its earliest stages, emphasizing the importance of giving Frehley’s loved ones and fans time to process the loss.
“I have to stress that this is extremely preliminary. Not yet. Way, way, way too soon. We need some stuff to settle. We need everybody to kind of digest and exhale a little bit,” he continued.
“But it is something I feel is important and has to happen, and should happen, and hopefully will happen. But again, it’s a little bit down the line. Certainly won’t be this year.”
While no dates or venues have been discussed, Trunk’s comments suggest that the tribute concert could take place sometime in 2026, once plans are finalized and the timing feels right for both the family and fans.
Remembering Ace Frehley’s Legacy
Ace Frehley, born Paul Daniel Frehley, passed away peacefully on October 16 in Morristown, New Jersey, surrounded by his family. The guitarist’s death followed complications from a fall at home, which led to a brain bleed and subsequent hospitalization.
His family released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief and appreciation for his fans:
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers, and intentions as he left this earth.”
“We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
Trunk’s commitment to honoring Frehley through a tribute concert reinforces how deeply the guitarist’s music continues to resonate across generations of rock fans.
