Neal Schon, cofounder and guitarist of Journey, has officially confirmed that the legendary band will be back on the road in 2026. Fans can expect a massive tour schedule and some exciting changes to the group’s live performances, promising a fresh experience while still honoring their classic catalog.
Journey’s 2026 Tour: What Neal Schon Revealed
Speaking with Eddie Trunk, Schon shared that the band has already lined up more than 120 shows across 2026 and 2027.
“There’sThere’sThere’s tons of stuff coming. We have about 120 shows bookedbookedbooked and we’ll probably add to them,” Schon explained. “Half of themwillbethem will bethemwillbe in ’26 and the other half oftheconcertswillfollowof the concerts will followoftheconcertswillfollow in ’27.”
While specific details remain under wraps until the official tour announcement, Schon hinted that Journey fans can expect a setlist that digs deeper into the band’s rich history, going beyond the greatest hits.
“It’s going to be a very different show, and it’s going to entail many of our albums,” Schon revealed. “WeWeWe won’t go all of the way back to the very, very beginning. But I’d say from ’78 on, we’re going to dig deep — and the sets are going to be much longer.”
This means fans could hear songs that haven’t been performed live in decades, along with extended performances of fan favorites.
A Bigger, Deeper Journey Experience
Schon’s comments align with a social media teaser the band posted in August 2025, which asked fans for input on the setlist. This direct engagement with their audience suggests that Journey is carefully crafting a show that both honors their legacy and surprises longtime followers.
Unlike recent tours, which saw Journey co-headlining with bands like Def Leppard or sharing the stage with Toto, the upcoming trek may focus solely on Journey. Schon noted that the band is considering standalone shows, giving them greater freedom to expand their setlist and production.
Journey’s Recent Touring Activity
The band has had an active run in recent years. In 2024, Journey performed extensively, both alongside Toto and as part of a stadium co-headlining tour with Def Leppard. However, 2025 has been relatively quiet, with only a few isolated performances.
One of the most notable was a March show in Houston, which unfortunately had to be cut short after just four songs due to an electrical fire at the venue. That incident left many fans eagerly awaiting the next big tour cycle, and Schon’s announcement now sets the stage for a powerful comeback.
Neal Schon on Potential Collaborations
Schon also revealed that discussions are ongoing about possible tour partners for the future. One name he highlighted is Bryan Adams, a fellow music icon with whom Journey shares a long history.
“I think that our fans are really going to dig what we’re putting together for them in ’26 and, you know, things change,” Schon told Trunk. “You know, Bryan Adams is someone I’ve been talking to for quite some time. We go way back into the ’80s, when his first album came out and we toured with him. I think he’d be tremendous for us to do a stadium tourtourtour with. Whether or not we get there in ’27 it’ll happen eventually. I think it’s kind of inevitable. I think that both of us, together with maybe one more act, would be reallygreatreally greatreallygreat.”
If this collaboration does come to fruition, it could mean a powerhouse stadium tour featuring some of the most recognizable rock hits of the past four decades.
What Fans Can Expect
Based on Schon’s comments, the 2026–2027 tour will be one of Journey’s most ambitious undertakings in years. Here’s what fans can look forward to:
- 120+ shows across two years (and potentially more added).
- Expanded setlists going deeper into albums from 1978 onward.
- Longer performances with a focus on both classics and deeper cuts.
- Possible major collaborations, including Bryan Adams.
- A return to large-scale stadium tours with new production elements.
For longtime fans, this tour promises a reinvention of the Journey live experience — a balance of nostalgia and fresh surprises.
A New Chapter for Journey
With over five decades of music, Journey remains one of rock’s most enduring bands. Hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Separate Ways,” and “Faithfully” continue to resonate across generations, and Neal Schon’s promise of a reimagined live show suggests that Journey is far from slowing down.
If the 2026 tour delivers on Schon’s vision, fans could be in for one of the most exciting chapters in the band’s history.
