The sound of Solstafir is where dreams and forces of Nature unite. No other band has the power to make grown men cry during their shows and with their mix of rock’n’roll, Icelandic lyrics and melancholic spirit, they cast their spells over thousands of fans and journalists. Especially since their latest masterpiece ‘Ótta’, the entire rock and metal scene lays at their feet and this spring, they tour Europe to present the haunting cult album in its entire length, together with a string orchestra in a truly magical set.
Metal Wani’s Anne Catherine Swallow had the chance to meet their frontman Aðalbjörn “Addi” Tryggvason before the show in Hamburg and even though he apologized for having a sore throat after spending two and a half hours on stage every night, he still took the time to speak about the preparations and rehearsals for this special ‘Ótta’-set, what he considers to be a perfect song and why he prefers certain times of the day to write new music. He discussed extreme fan reactions during their shows, how he overcomes bad situations and depression, but also proclaims his love for the Beatles and – yes! – H&M jeans.
