The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, Goatwhore and Ghost Bath arrived on 15th August in Bremen at Tower Music Club to present a package of different styles of metal. The venue was well-attended from the beginning. I think there was something for everyone in the venue. The evening contained Black, Thrash, Technical and Death Metal.
The Black metal band Ghost Bath from the USA opened the evening. The guys played very well with a beautiful sound in the venue. They didn’t interact so much with the crowd but it was appropriate to the style of music they play. I enjoyed it very much to see them live on stage. American metal giants Goatwhore continued after them. The death/thrash Metal guys rocked the venue as seen by the headbangers in the crowd. Especially the mid-speed parts of them pleased the audience to go crazy. The first small circle pit of the evening began to rotate. Too bad for the guys: The bass player had some technical problems, but they managed it very professionally and carried it off well. But the sound overall was fine again and they delighted the people around.
The mighty guys of Dying Fetus followed as next. What I should say… they killed the stages, crowd and the whole event. The setlist contained good, older songs like “Your Treachery Will Die With you” and “Grotesque Impalement” for example. But newer ones like “From Womb To Waste” or “In the Trenches” made the people in the venue crazy. John Gallagher, guitarist and crazy singer, often motivated the people to do a circle pit and we metalheads followed the call. I was surrounded by Headbangers, simply nodders or a few dancing girls. Awesome thing! As a short encore they played “Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog” and a bigger part of the crowd shouted the lyrics together with the guys on stage. Nevertheless, I’m sorry, but I must lament to things about the gig of them. The guitar was not that powerful and brutal like I know it from them on records or live on stage, too bad. The next point were the people or rather the crowded venue. It wasn’t possible to move only one meter inside the venue. I seemed that Bremen waited for Dying Fetus a long time. It was very annoying, but nevertheless it was awesome to see the Dying Fetus live on stage!
The last guys were The Black Dahlia Murder this evening. They killed it just from the beginning. It started with “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse”, a very powerful song! The circle pits continued and the people had fun while the gig. I don’t know, but maybe because the venue wasn’t crowed like while Dying Fetus played. I was a bit surprised about it. Okay, but this supported the overall mood of the people around in a positive way. The front man Trevor Strnad interacted with the people around and went crazy himself. I funny moment while the guys played: I woman had birthday and Trevor invited her to come on stage and get a crowd surf from the stage to the back wall of the venue and the crowd participated. Fine moment of the evening! Overall, it was a very powerful performance on stage, the sound was awesome clear and I’m delighted that I was part of it.
It was a very powerful and fine evening. The sound was fine in the venue except while Dying Fetus played, too bad, and the venue was horrible massively crowded while they played. But so what, it was fun to be part of the concert with these four bands and to see the American metal crew to rock Bremen the hell out of their souls!
