Metal Wani Editor in Chief Owais ‘Vitek’ Nabi had a chat with OVERKILL frontman Bobby Blitz. He talks about the upcoming record “The Grinding Wheel”, the fan response to released singles so far, exploring heavy metal elements on the record as compared to full fledged thrash assault on last 3 records, why it was time for the band to explore more and keep the essence of Overkill sound, working relationship with D.D Verni and Dave Linsk while writing songs for the record and how Dave brings in some of the best instrumental parts of the band.
He also talks about working with producer Andy Sneap for the first time, why they wanted to go for organic drums and guitar lines on this record, the importance of loud signature D.D. Verni bass sound on the record and writing a monstrous 7 min long title track which is completely different from rest of the Overkill songs.
He also throws light on writing vocal lines for the record, his 2 different opinions on VIP packages for the fans to meet bands, why it’s important for a band like Overkill to maintain a balance between VIP packages and meet fans, upcoming US tour with Nile and European Headbangers Ball Tour in 2017.
