What will you do when you run out of time? Mastodon‘s latest album, ‘Emperor of Sand’ (Read Our Review here), challenges this question. Stephen King wrote – “Time takes it all, whether you want it to or not” – and the past 18 months have been yet another lesson in time for the Atlanta band. They’ve been gifted with the insight of impermanence once more, and have channeled these lessons into a fucking masterpiece.
Metal Wani’s Editor In Chief Owais ‘Vitek’ Nabi had a chat with MASTODON bassist and singer Troy Sanders. He discusses the recently releases record “Emperor Of Sand”, fan response to the record so far, his opinion on how MASTODON are able to exceed fan expectations, his opinion on writing an emotional, dark, heartbreaking record that the band have endured individually.
He also talks about how every MASTODON record carries its own individual story while tying in perfectly with the rest of the catalog and whether it gets hard for them to maintain the balance of wanting to go too far forward as an amazingly experienced group of individuals whilst staying true to what fans know and love.
He throws light on next KILLER BE KILLED record, possibility of playing ‘Crack The Skye’ in its entirety next year, whether the band recognizes the influence that Mastodon does to metal & more.
