Mr. Big is back in action with a marvelous album new album called ‘Defying Gravity’ which is set to drop on July 7th. Bass player extraordinaire and all around awesome human, Billy Sheehan was gracious enough to spend a few minutes with Chuck Marshall from Metal Wani.
During their conversation, they dug into the new album where they reunited with ‘Lean Into It’ producer Kevin Elson. They touch on how the compressed recording schedule pushed the band to create an album that stacks up well against ‘Lean Into It’ yet exudes its own unique personality. They also dive into the background behind “Damn I’m In Love Again”, “1992”, and “Be Kind” which evoked interesting stories and insights about Mr. Big.
On The Winery Dogs front, Billy chatted about future plans to work on a new album. He also reflects on the wealth of love and support from fans of the band.
With the tragic loss of Chris Cornell, we asked Billy how this impacted him. He expressed is anger and frustration with the pharmaceutical industry which appears to profit on human suffering. In asking if the music industry or fans turn a blind eye, Billy was convinced that in his case, the fans have always been extremely supportive and sustaining.
Finally changing gears a bit, Billy reflects on the many highlights of his career and touring plans for Mr. Big which may include a long awaited visit to Australia.
