In This Moment have been selling out venues across the states in support of their upcoming album ‘Ritual’ (Click Here To Read Our Review) which is set to be released on July 21. The new songs are raw and visceral, yet still maintain the emotional complexity that the band is known for. Metal Wani’s Chuck Marshall & Barrett Stephens had the pleasure of talking with guitarist Chris Howorth about ‘Ritual’ and get his thoughts on the musical direction of the new album.
The cover of “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collin’s is epic and Chris give us some insights into how the band approached this song. We also delved into the spiritual themes of the songs on ‘Ritual’ and talk about the band’s friendship with the legendary Rob Halford who appears on the song “Black Wedding”.
Given the theatrical nature of In This Moment’s live shows, we asked Chris about how the setlist is created and the various considerations that the band must make in designing the show for the fans. Considering that the name of the tour is “Half God Half Devil” we wondered if the band will be playing that song on the second leg of their tour with Motionless In White, Starset, VIMIC, and Little Miss Nasty.
Finally we talked about Chris’s favorite part of the tour so far as well as what other surprises the fans can look forward to with the release of ‘Ritual’ on July 21st.
