If someone were to ask me what would be the album playing in the background in the hell of an existential crisis, I’d tell them to wait till August 18th and experience the hell of it themselves. ‘Dear Desolation’ is the new record out on it’s way by Australian metal act Thy Art is Murder, and much like almost anything out of Australia, it will try and kill you.
Gearing up for the release, Metal Wani’s Sarmad Ahmad had the privilege speak with Andy Marsh, lead guitarist of Thy Art is Murder on the onset of the release of their 4th studio album ‘Dear Desolation’ out August 18th.
He discusses the initial reception of the track “Slaves Beyond Death”, how the writing was done on tour and in studio, and how it was approached.
He also discussed the lyrical aspect of the album and the philosophy, reasons, and inspiration behind the messages they deliver in it.
Lastly, he discusses the evolution of the band, the self definition of the genre that the band plays, how the band has progressed and what it plans in the future.
