The German psychedelic rock trio Kadavar came back on the road presenting their newest record ‘Rough Times’. They get supported by the bands Mantar and Death Alley and stopped on the 8th of November 2017 at the venue Capitol in Hannover, Germany. The venue was not fulfilled of people, but it seemed to be a relaxed evening at Capitol.
Death Alley started the evening. I did not know this band before that evening and I wanted to be surprised. So, it was a really big, positive surprise. The guys were a great support for the headliner of the evening, because their music styles match good. It was a powerful and thrilling performance of the guys with a quite nice sound. The crowd seemed to love the music. My conclusion: I must to listen to their music in detail.
After a break, Mantar stepped on the stage. The Duo was a exotic bird with black feathers this evening. They attracted much attention because of their individuality this evening. It seemed that the crowd was a mixture of die hard Mantar fans and people who did not know them. The performance of the two guys was very fine and the setlist was a nice mix of groovy and atmospheric tracks. The front man Hanno Klänhardt performed his singing and guitar playing including some crazy dance moves on his huge effect board. He spoke in high terms to the Hannover fans, because he saw many shirts of the band and thanked for the support of the band while drummer Erinç Sakarya raise his drum sticks. All in all, it was a fine show on stage with a very nice light show and mood in the venue, but the guitar was quite overdriven in volume what made the vocals disappear in some nice parts. Nevertheless, it was fun to see the guys on a stage again!
Last but not least, the headliner Kadavar entered the venue and the venue was fuller in comparison to the whole evening. The spectrum of the age of the visitors was quite wide, just as an interesting fact. They began their show with the track “Rough Times” from the same-titled new record and played mostly from this record and their first one ‘Kadavar’. In General, it was a nice selection of their musical history. While the string players Christoph „Lupus“ Lindemann and Simon „Dragon“ Bouteloup did their job and headbanged from time to time, the drummer Christoph „Tiger“ Bartelt was mostly the centerpiece in. The ventilators behind him blew his hair in the air while he headbanged most of the time playing the drums. The whole appearance of the band was on its own very nice and it could be seen that the guys have big fun playing their music. The sound was crystal-clear, the light show was always appropriate to the moods of the track, the crowd was rejoiced and I do not need to admit anything. It was a pleasure to see them live on stage!
It was a nice evening in the venue Capitol. The mixture of psychedelic rock and sludge metal was uncommon, but cool. The hall was not sold out and maybe this was the point that it was quite relaxed to enjoy the music of Kadavar, Mantar and Death Alley. I had big fun to visit this concert and I would return for every single band again. Thanks for the experience!
