Download Festival has been a music institution since it first launched, and the creation of a Download event in Australia is sure to usher in a new era in the illustrious backstory of the festival. Headlining act Korn stands as a solid choice to showcase Download to Australia, as the band has performed more than enough times at the flagship event to establish themselves as one of Download’s most important drawcards.
Performing an exclusive set at Download Melbourne as the first show the band has performed on the back of their latest album The Serenity of Suffering, Korn will be sure to turn many heads.
Ahead of a very special upcoming headline performance at Download Festival in Melbourne, Korn’s Ray Luzier took some time out of his schedule to talk to Metal Wani’s Jake Patton about the upcoming performance.
During the conversation Ray talks about the band’s fondness for Australia; and their desire to tour there more; and also touches on why there are lengthy gaps between appearances by the band Down Under.
They also discuss the band’s relationship with Download Festival since its inception in the United Kingdom; Korn’s position as a headlining band and the public reaction around that; and the other bands that Korn members will be trying to see while they are at the festival.
They close out by talking about the band’s latest record The Serenity of Suffering and their Grammy nomination during Ray’s time in the band, before touching on the status and direction of any upcoming Korn material.
