19th of April- Bucharest, was the first time to see Dark Tranquillity, together with the two opening acts Miracle Flair (Switzerland) and 5Rand (Italy). The Swedish melodic death metal pioneers should have been supported in Bucharest by Equilibrium as well, but they dropped off some dates of the tour, being back and continue touring with Dark Tranquillity from Greece.
Was a sunny warm day of Thursday and the crowd wasn’t that numerous yet for the opening act 5Rand, a female fronted band, with a lot of energy, but not so much crowd, the Italians didn’t impress me much, so after their performing, I went outside to take some air, after 10 minutes or so, the second opening act, Miracle Flair, made it to the stage, where the crowd slowly begun to gather. This Swiss female fronted metal band as well didn’t seem to get so much the public attention, because everyone was waiting for the Swedish pioneers to hit the stage, but in the end, they made it too.

But finally, let me say about the headliner. Before Dark Tranquillity hitting the stage, I went outside again, having a beer and when I entered back the venue, it was already fully crowded. I found myself a nice place to see them better, closer to the stage (my main problem at the gigs is me, being short and sometimes I can’t see s**t), when the show started and the crowd was so excited from the beginning to see the band. As I mentioned above, it was the first time to see them live and have nothing else to say but they kicked ass and didn’t expect to like them so much.
The sound was good, the public was so energetic, jumping and headbanging, a diverse set-list, we all enjoying both the new and old songs. Before the gig, I had an interview with Stanne himself, who mentioned that the crowd enjoys and gets excited to the new songs a lot, when usually, the crowd gets more excited hearing the good old songs of the bands, but Dark Tranquillity is that kind of band which both the old and new songs makes a good show and so it was. Of course I got goosebumps when they played “Forward Momentum“, my favorite song of Atoma and live it kicked ass!
Mikael Stanne’s energy is pretty amazing, he simply conveys good vibes to the public and no one expected to the encore, ”State Of Trust”, as Stanne to get off the stage and sing in the crowd… But what else should I add? That night of Thursday was simply amazing and Dark Tranquillity knows how to make us leave home, asking ourselves when they will come back to perform again.
If I have to add some keywords of this gig: energy, good vibes, worth seeing!
