A cold evening of January, cold and tired, but this didn’t stop me to attend a gig I was looking forward and finally going to see Amorphis. The Finnish metallers have been many times to Romania and I’ve missed them several times, but this time, I thought I will manage to arrive in time and catch up the Germans from Nailed To Obscurity, but I’ve arrived just when they finished their set (next time for sure), but after that I met Raimud (NTO vocalist) at the merch stand saying hello at least (and taking a picture).
Jinjer was the second band to hit the stage (and the second time I was seeing them live), the Ukrainians have risen to the high in the metal scene, touring around the world with some of the greatest bands and, not being one of those bands I am usually listening, Jinjer did a nice show, playing both old and the new songs from the latest EP, the energy of Tatiana’s voice and act during the stage, definitely kept the public alive.
It’s been a long time since I haven’t listened to Soilwork, I knew a few songs by them from some metal compilations I got at home, some of those songs were played that night and I’ve recognized them: ”As We Speak”, ”Nerve”, ”Bastard Chain” to name a few, and of course, songs from their new album ”Verkligheten”. What can I say about their show, it was great that I thought, they caught my attention, especially with the new song ”Nurturing Glance” that became my favorite one.
And finally, the awaited band I was looking for, Amorphis! Before their show I was thinking if they would be playing some of the good old songs (yes they did!). The Finns started their set with two songs from the newest album ”Queen of Time”, which is the tour also called, then continued with some old songs, taken from albums like ”Skyforger”, ”Hopeless Days”, ”Tales from The Thousand Lakes” and so on. Amorphis is a band that will always have a large public, enjoying their music all the time they will come and perform and by this, I am happy I finally got to see them live. Nice that they ended the show with two of my favorites, ”Death of a King” and ”House of Sleep”.
A great night, with great bands, all the bands had nice set-lists, still a pity that I missed Nailed To Obscurity, but I am definitely looking forward to see these bands again soon!
