During an appearance on The Eddie Trunk Podcast, George Lynch talked about the current status of Dokken, saying he’d like to record some new music with the band.
The guitarist said about his current relationship with the rest of the group’s classic members, with whom he reunited for a tour in 2016:
“We are on good terms, actually. I don’t really know that we had a plan… we don’t have a plan, actually.
“Don [Dokken, vocals] and I would get together if there was a high-level show, and if everything works – work schedules, the money, and everything – I’ll come down, play guitar, and it’s Dokken.
“People love it, it’s an event. Don and I are fine, we kind of got everything worked out, and why not? I think it works for both of us because fans love it, and I think it plants the seeds for maybe doing a record down the road or something… a reunion tour, who knows?
“It’s always challenging and we’ve been talking about it for years, but with everybody still relatively healthy, I think it would probably be smart to do it sooner than later.”
You did a handful of shows a couple of years ago, so the vibe coming off of that seems to be positive still as you guys continue to dabble and do some stuff.
“You know, we could make a great record, a record that would really, like, stand up to the old records that people love.
“To me, I want to do that because I want to put that other bookend on the shelf and try to wrap the whole thing up in a nice bow and say, ‘Here it is, from 1980 to 2019 or whatever it is, here’s the end of the story.'”
