Talking to Rockin’ Metal Revival, singer Sebastian Bach looked back on the early days, when Pantera and Megadeth were the opening acts for Skid Row.
Focusing on Pantera, Bach said:
“I gotta remark that we headlined, they opened.
“A lot of the times online, I’ll read like, ‘Pantera went on tour with special guest Skid Row.’ And I’m the only person that says, ‘Get your facts right! What the f*ck?! You couldn’t be more wrong!’
“Quit trying to rewrite history. I’ll read a whole five-page article on ‘Vulgar Display of Power,’ and our names are not even in the article!
“And it’s like, ‘You weren’t there!’ They opened for us the night that record came out, I was right there for it!
“They opened for a whole month for Skid Row before ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ came into the stores. You don’t ever read that though.
“You read, ‘Oh, they toured with Sacred Reich.‘ Shut the f*ck up! Sacred Reich? Give me a break!”
Talking about Megadeth as well, the singer added:
“I was the exact guy that said, ‘This is the band we’re taking out into arenas.’ And that’s what we did. That show you were talking about also had a band opening up for us called Megadeth!
“Not to blow everybody’s minds, ‘Oh my god, that never happened!’ It happened, god damn it! I chose them! I chose the bands, that’s the way it worked.
“All I remember is all the fans at Alpine Valley ripping up the grass. The side fight. The lawn was above the people, it was up in the clouds!
“I remember Dave Mustaine being so cool and nice backstage. And we were on the side of the stage watching that.
“And I also have a video of that day that I gave, I think I gave it to Rita, but I have a video of me in Dimebag’s dressing room right after that.
“I have them throwing the grass in the air on video! I walked right into a Pantera dressing room after that, and I go, ‘That was crazy, you guys! It’s all on video! What are you guys doing out there?’
“And Dimebag goes, ‘We’re just doing what we do. We do what we do.'”
