During a recent interview with Marci Wiser on the 95.5 KLOS radio station, Heart guitarist and vocalist Nancy Wilson saluted Dolly Parton for bowing out of this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame vote.
Here’s what she said:
“How classy… It’s really cool for her to step down like that because the category is so broad. Like, Dionne Warwick is not a rock performer, and a lot of them are not, and they should make different categories under the bigger Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame moniker. They should have a Country Hall Of Fame and a Pop Hall Of Fame and a Rap Hall Of Fame and a Rock Hall Of Fame. I think that would be really smart if they started to do that. ‘Cause I’ve gotta vote for it, like, tomorrow.”
Also, Nancy Wilson said how she’d love to collaborate with her on Dolly’s potential future rock album:
“It’s really tough because Lionel Richie is in there. If you try to narrow it to what really is rock, it excludes too many others. So I think she’s really a class act to have done that. It makes me wanna write a rock record with her… I should give her a call. She can do anything. She’s written some of the best songs in our history. She can do it.”

Been saying that for years that the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame is not the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame it is the music Hall of Fame. Because we cannot leave anyone out in this day and age. So they should have a country because if they did have a country you wouldn’t put black sabbath in a country Hall of Fame. So I think that they should have one for each genre. She’s right, and I would love To hear Dolly Parton do a song with like I Dee Snider from twisted sister. She would make a really cool rock album. And then with a clear conscience she can go in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame.
