Good news for Journey fans as Steve Perry has withdrawn the long ongoing lawsuit against Neal Schon.
The trademark cancellation came for 20 of the band’s songs held by guitarist Neal Schon and keyboard player Jonathan Cain. The songs include some of JOURNEY‘s most popular singles, such as “Any Way You Want It”, “Open Arms” and “Separate Ways”.
Read the official announcement from Neal Schon below.
JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon says that he won’t “take orders” about how to run the band he co-founded in 1973.
Neal said on his Twitter, saying:
“No one is going to dictate to me at this point what I can and cannot do in regards to JOURNEY.”
“I haven’t been here and not here to take orders- never have and never will. It’s my band and I’ll own it as I should and make the right changes as needed.”
When one of Neal‘s Twitter followers asked him who was trying to “dictate to you,” Schon replied, “Have a guess.”
Earlier today, Neal Schon confirmed that fans of Journey can expect to see original keyboardist Gregg Rolie on the band’s upcoming 50th-anniversary tour.
Neal addressed Rolie’s involvement in the upcoming run of dates in a social media post.
After he shared a graphic for Journey’s 50th anniversary on his Facebook page, a fan commented:
“I am SO looking forward to this. Please tell me Gregg Rollie is coming along for the ride! He’s the better keyboard player and a co-founder it only seems right. Timing couldn’t be better either!!!!”
Schon simply replied:
“you’ll be seeing him”.
With Journey already in a mess, band members Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain are exchanging statements online.
Earlier, Jonathan Cain released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
“Neal Schon should look in the mirror when he accuses me of causing harm to the JOURNEY brand. I have watched him damage our brand for years and am a victim of both his — and his wife’s — bizarre behavior. Neal sued Live Nation twice, losing both times, and damaging our ability to ever work with them again; Neal outrageously tried to take away trademarks from Steve Perry; Neal and his wife continually insult the professionalism of numerous accountants, road managers, and management firms with endless legal threats and their bullying, toxic, and incoherent emails;
Cain added:
“Neal argues online with fans who don’t see eye to eye with him, and Neal and his wife recklessly spend JOURNEY‘s money until there is none left for operating costs. If anyone is destroying the JOURNEY brand, it is Neal — and Neal alone.”
Earlier, Jonathan Cain fired back at Journey’s Neal Schon’s accusations after the guitarist sued Cain over the use of an American Express issued in the band’s name.
Read below what Cain’s claims:
“This is a matter that should have been resolved privately, but I am forced to publicly respond now to Neal’s malicious lies and personal attacks on my family and me in an effort to garner public support for his ill-conceived lawsuit, a lawsuit that has absolutely no merit.
“Neal has always had access to the credit card statements; what he lacks – and what he is really seeking, is the ability to increase his spending limits. Since Neal decided to publicize what is going on, I can tell you we will present the evidence to the court that shows that Neal has been under tremendous financial pressure as a result of his excessive spending and extravagant lifestyle, which led to him running up enormous personal charges on the band’s credit card account.
“When efforts were made to limit his use of the card to legitimate band expenses, Neal, unfortunately, decided to attack me rather than trying to get his reckless spending under control. I am saddened by the situation, for Neal, and for our fans, but since Neal filed a lawsuit, I suspect he will not be able to ignore the court like he has ignored the countless financial advisors and accountants he has fired over the past several years who have tried in vain to help him.”
So much for JC trying to throw me under the bus as he claimed I was blatantly trying to rip off SP while collecting the checks for the very diligent work my wife and I did to protect our Merch. Time for coffee 👍🏽 pic.twitter.com/xsGQBr0wob

Jonathan, Steve Perry, and Steve Smith are the real musicians and the sound of Journey.
Sorry Neil. Your head dwarfed your musical abilities.
True artists leave a trail of friends because the whole point of life is about relationships. The whole point of art is to inspire us. To give us hope in humanity.
I’m sad that Neil has missed this and went down the wrong road.
But its never too late to change.
You will find that a beautiful heart produces beautiful art. On the contrary… well you can finish the thought. Very sad. I would never support what they are calling Journey now. No way.
Are you kidding steve himself praised neal at the hall of fame
