Kiss’ Gene Simmons revealed in a recent interview with Howard Stern the band’s classic song that he actually ”hate”: “I Was Made for Loving You”.
Gene said:
“He walks in, it’s ’79 or so, and he’s got a song. In the beginning, by the way, we traded ideas, kinda co-wrote, and then we went on on our own. And so he walks in, says, ‘I’ve got a song for you.’ ‘What’s it called?’
“He said, ”I Was Made For Lovin’ You”, ‘Oh that’s great. What’s the first line?’ [He said], ‘Tonight,’ [and I responded] ‘Oooh, that’s good. What’s the second line?’ [He said], ‘I wanna give it all to you’,oh, yeah, I know what *it* is, that’s cool. ‘In the darkness…’ ”In the darkness?’ That rocks! Then what?’ ‘… there’s something I wanna do.’ ‘That’s really cool! What’s my part?’
“‘…doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo…’ ‘No! No, c’mon, I’m God of Thunder! What’s my part?’ ‘…doo, doo, doo…’
“I hate it to this day. Except, stadiums full of people jump up and down like biblical locusts [to it] – and so, I sing along.”
