During an interview with Gibson TV, Noel Gallagher talked about music nowadays, saying that the ”band thing” is pretty dead today, and people should do music out of passion and love of art in order to succeed and get fame.
Regarding this topic, Gallagher said:
“You have to accept that, the great stories we all see in the documentaries, it’s not possible anymore. I don’t think the story of five guys from a council estate, who are gonna do what we did, is possible anymore.”
“That being said, if you are good, you’ll get there. There’s no question about it… But the music business has changed. […]
“I think the band thing, at the moment, it’s pretty dead. But songwriting is really f*cking important. I mean, there’s not one piece of (advice) you could say, ‘Well, if you do this, you’re gonna get that,’ it doesn’t work like that.
”If you’re into writing songs, write as many as you can. And then, play them to other people, and then somebody will play [them] to somebody else, and use whatever the mediums are to get it out there.” […]
