In a recent conversation with American Songwriter, Kirk Hammett shared insights into Metallica’s current standing in the music industry and discussed their future plans.
Reflecting on the band’s trajectory, the guitarist remarked:
“The band seems to be growing larger. I see that as a positive development. Our focus remains on creating music that unites people and offers support. That’s been the band’s modus operandi, and we intend to stay true to it. It transcends mere status or financial considerations; it’s about fostering a cultural impact that uplifts and motivates individuals, helping them navigate their daily lives.”
Hammett went further to suggest that the conclusion of Metallica would signify more than just the end of a band; it would signal the end of an era in music altogether. He elaborated:
“Metallica’s influence persists, and there’s no definitive endpoint. It’s not something that can simply be declared over. It’s akin to declaring an end to music itself. That’s inconceivable. Music is an essential aspect of life, and we’re grateful to contribute to its perpetuation.”
