In a recent conversation with AZ Central, Bret Michaels addressed the occasional “fistfights” among Poison members, shedding light on the band’s dynamics following some recent online tensions. He likened their bond to that of siblings, indicating that their conflicts are part of a deep friendship.
When asked about the state of the band after their 2022 tour with Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, Michaels responded, “Absolutely.” He clarified, “I want to be very clear. Other than an occasional throw down fistfight — I’m not making this up — we’re like best friends. But there’s no gray area. All of a sudden, we’ll get in a fistfight. But the next day, we’ll go out and play. We’ll work it out like a band of brothers. ‘The Stadium Tour’ was amazing. We were having fun.”
Michaels added that they often didn’t have many soundchecks during the tour but remained grateful for the experience. “Def Leppard and Mötley, they were amazing. They played great. But we just came out, and we knew we had one hour at 6 o’clock to go out there and give it everything we had,” he explained. He noted that Poison’s performances were well-received, with near-capacity crowds.
While Poison hasn’t performed together since their tour with Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, discussions about a potential reunion have circulated recently, sparking some internal tension. Rikki Rockett recently mentioned on social media that a 2025 reunion tour wouldn’t happen because Michaels was not interested. This statement ignited a strong reaction from fans, especially since Michaels had previously expressed a desire to commemorate the 40th anniversary of their debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In.
Rockett later clarified, “People, I never said that Bret is cancelling the 2025 tour. It didn’t get booked. I said the reason Poison isn’t touring in 2025 is because Bret doesn’t want to. It isn’t dirt. It isn’t a fight. Just the facts, ‘Ma’am.’ Surmise what you want from it. You will anyway!”
Michaels also took to social media to clarify his plans for a potential Poison tour in 2025-2026. He emphasized that his focus would be on family and health, limiting his performances. However, he expressed excitement for 2026, which marks the 40th anniversary of Look What The Cat Dragged In. “It would make perfect sense to have the possibility of a reunion in 2026,” he stated, envisioning a special tour featuring their hit songs. “For example, in 2018, Poison headlined and rocked, and in 2022…now, four years after that, Poison hopefully will continue to rock the world in a 2026 headlining tour.”
