John Corabi recently reminisced about his time recording Dr. Feelgood with Mötley Crüe in Vancouver during a conversation with DifferentStagesRadio. He shared a story about Skid Row’s Dave ‘The Snake’ Sabo calling Nikki Sixx and the others ‘losers’ after a wild night out.
“We went to Richards,” Corabi recounted. “We picked up a bunch of girls and brought them back to our hotel. We hung out with them for about an hour, and then one of the girls said, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna need another 800 bucks.’ It was $200 per girl, and it was me, Tommy [Lee], Nikki, and Snake Sabo from Skid Row.”
He continued, “Things got chaotic. Nikki was drunk and threw a bottle. The girls fled the room, and I managed to get Nikki into a cab and out of there before things got worse. Later, we were sitting on the couch, and Snake Sabo made a memorable comment.”
“We were literally passing around one beer,” Corabi said. “We had only one beer left, and Snake said, ‘Dude, what happened to us?’ Nikki asked, ‘What are you talking about?’ and Snake responded, ‘Twenty years ago, any one of us could have picked up any of those girls without spending a dime. Now we’re paying $800 just to talk to us for an hour. We’re f*cking losers!’”
Corabi added, “After all that, we just sat there, laughed our a*ses off, and then went to bed. We were like, ‘F*ck it.’”
Skid Row collaborated with Mötley Crüe on backing vocals for a track on Crüe’s 1989 album and also opened for them during the European leg of their world tour.
