In a recent interview with “Reckless” Rexx Ruger of Pod Scum, Mick Sweda, former member of BulletBoys, spoke about his new band, THE ROCKETT MAFIA, which features Rikki Rockett of Poison on drums, Brandon Gibbs of Devil City Angels on vocals and guitar, and Bryan Kimes on bass and backing vocals. When asked about the band’s live performances and whether they would be performing original songs or covers, Mick shared some exciting details.
“Well, we’re starting out with covers,” Mick explained. “We’re kind of leaning toward a ’70s sort of vibe, things that Rikki and I grew up with. But we’re making sure there are songs that we love and are passionate about. And we’ve got some shows booked — I think we’re playing the Whisky [A Go Go] in February of this year here in L.A., and we’ve got some fly-outs coming after that.”
Mick continued to express his excitement about the project, emphasizing the fun energy of the band. “But, yeah, it’s real fun. We’re having a great time with it. The singer Brandon is coming in today, so we’re actually gonna really kind of hone in on how this is gonna be. But it’s energetic, and we’re putting our little imprint on the songs, which is something that I would insist on in any circumstance. So I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun. And that’s kind of what we wanna do — we just wanna keep it high energy and entertaining and fun and live.”
