MÖTLEY CRÜE has issued a heartfelt statement regarding a tragic plane crash earlier today. The band confirmed that a private jet, owned by Vince Neil, was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, Arizona. Sadly, the pilot lost their life in the incident, while the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to nearby hospitals. Fortunately, Vince Neil was not aboard the flight at the time. His girlfriend, Rain, and her friend Ashley sustained injuries, though they are not life-threatening. The band expressed their deepest sympathies to the families of those affected and assured that they would soon announce a way to support the deceased pilot’s family.
The crash, which took place on Monday afternoon at Scottsdale Airport, involved a Learjet 35A that collided with a stationary Gulfstream 200 business jet after landing. Tragically, one person was killed, and three others were injured, with two of them in critical condition. The injured individuals were quickly rushed to hospitals in the Phoenix area.
Though Vince Neil was not on the plane, a representative confirmed the plane was indeed his. Neil’s spokesperson shared his thoughts and prayers for everyone involved, and expressed gratitude for the efforts of the first responders who helped in the aftermath of the crash.
TMZ has reported that Vince’s girlfriend, Rain, was on the plane and survived the accident. Rain, along with her friend Ashley, was hospitalized with injuries, including five broken ribs for Rain. Remarkably, the dogs the women were traveling with also survived the ordeal.
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m., leading to the shutdown of the runway. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into the Gulfstream jet on the ramp. Investigators believe the left main landing gear failed during the landing, causing the collision.
A dramatic video captured by ABC15 Arizona shows the moment of impact as the Learjet skids along the runway.
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky issued the following statement: “Today, Scottsdale tragically experienced an aircraft accident at our airport. Based on the information we have, it appears that at least one person lost their life after two jets collided on the runway.”
The crash took place just before 3 p.m., when the Learjet 35A veered off the runway. The plane’s owner, as indicated by Wyoming Secretary of State incorporation records, is Chromed In Hollywood, a company associated with Vince Neil.
