During Tool’s recent performance at the Northern Invasion, Maynard James Keenan called out his bandmates for taking so long to finish the instrumental parts for the band’s massively-anticipated new record, telling the crowd:

“A lot of people recently have been asking me, Maynard James Keenan, what’s with the fucking riot gear? Well, I’ll tell you. I’m afraid of bananas, and other forms of fruit, because eventually you wonderful people are going to run out of fucking patience. So I beg you – Danny, Adam, and Justin, please finish your parts so I can finish mine. So I can take off this fucking riot gear.”

As reported, Maynard said on several occations in recent months that he was waiting for his bandmates to finish the instrumental tracks for the album so he could work on the lyrics. In one of the recent updates, he confirmed his work on the record is done.
