Metal Wani’s Carl Rourke sat down with Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators to talk about the new AB record ‘Walk The Sky’, the new Alter Bridge sound, whether he would consider making another solo record and more!
On how the response has been to the new Alter Bridge singles, Myles shared,
“It seems pretty good thus far. It seems like people are enjoying them and that fans are down with the cause so that’s good to hear. I look forward to getting the whole record out, you know? And seeing what everybody thinks.”
Asked if he feels that the singles chosen for this record were just the tip of the iceberg and that fans can expect even more dimensions on the full album, Myles commented
“Yeah! That was the hard thing about deciding which songs to release prior to the record coming out. We were really just trying to give a taste Of some of the different elements on the record dynamically speaking. Because we do have a few Different sonic characteristics that we tap into on this album so we wanted to make sure that the prior releases were a manifestation of that.”
Talking specifically on the story behind a new song entitled “Godspeed”, Myles shared,
“Mark wrote that for a friend of the bands, his Mae was Seth Luker. He was an amazing individual. He passed away not too long ago. So that song is kind of, well not kind of, it is, it’s his send off to the next realm.”
Reflecting on commendable comments made toward Me from names like Slash and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, Myles said,
“Well I think it’s just, I’m so passionate about the guitar. I get up every day and it’s usually the first thing I gravitate towards. [Laughs] I love singing, don’t get me wrong, but the guitar is my, it’s something that for the last thirty-plus years of my life has held a special place in my world, you know? So I’ve no intention of squashing that fire anytime soon.”
With Alter Bridge as his primary focus at this time, Myles generously touched on thoughts around his solo career and if he would ever consider doing another record.
“It was a really fulfilling process for me, so I definitely hope to do it again. It’s just a matter of finding a window of time to make sure I can get a record recorded.”
Myles concluded,
“I’m always trying to tap into something there. It was a great experience and I hope to do it again.”
