In a new interview with Mike Brunn, legendary Michael Schenker talked about his short stint in RATT as a guitar player.
Michael Schenker recalled when he joined Ratt, replacing Robbin Crosby before they embarked on a tour. Schenker stated that when Warren DeMartini asked him to join the band, he wanted to do it as a friend.
Here’s what he said:
“And then the other thing was Ratt was just about to go on tour, and they had lost their other guitarist, Robbin Crosby. And Warren DeMartini came to me straight away and asked me, and I did it as a friend. I thought, ‘I’m not doing anything else. Why not do this? It’s a harmless thing.’ And when I was done with it, I carried on with Robin.”
When asked whether the RATT members made an offer to record an album, Michael responded:
“I don’t remember because they were so chaotic. It was really awkward to be with them because they were divided. I don’t remember. I think it was the bass player and the drummer who was divided, and then the guitarist and the singer. And there was always a battle going on, and I was in the middle of it. I hated it. I couldn’t wait to get out of it.”
