As reported by Rolling Stone, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor in a new lawsuit filed by his former girlfriend, Julia Holcomb.
The suit alleges that the singer abused Holcomb when she was only 16 years old and went on to state that Tyler forced her to have an abortion when she got pregnant.
Holcomb claimed that when the couple started to date in 1973, with the singer being 25 and she merely 16 years old, Tyler convinced her mother to pass over guardianship rights to himself.
The lawsuit doesn’t mention Tyler by name, but uses excerpts from his memoir, where the singer claimed:
“[Holcomb’s parents] signed a paper over for me to have custody, so I wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me.”
The complaint alleges that, when the couple met at an Aerosmith concert in 1973, Tyler went on to perform “various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon” Holcomb at a hotel. The suit continues with the claim that, instead of providing adequate medical care to the young woman, the singer “did not meaningfully follow through on these promises and instead continued to travel with, assault and provide alcohol and drugs to Plaintiff.”
Tyler hasn’t made an official statement on the subject yet. Steven Tyler entered rehab last May. The statement was released, saying:
“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery. We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must cancel our first set of Las Vegas residency dates this June and July while he focuses on his well-being. We will continue our 2022 tour dates starting in September, and we’ll let you know any further updates as soon as we can. We are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows. Thank you for your understanding and for your support for Steven during this time.”
