Holy Hardcore, Batman! BIOHAZARD IS BACK!
For the first time in several years, Biohazard’s original line-up, Evan Seinfeld (Bass/Vocals), Billy Graziadei (Guitar/Vocals), Bobby Hambel (Guitar), and Danny Schuler (Drums), is back with a furious vengeance which has no current rivals among their peers. Sure, there are other bands that create similar music, but absolutely NO ONE has the musical and visual chemistry of Evan Seinfield and Billy Graziadei, known in some circles as BillyBio. Billy has done a phenomenal job keeping Biohazard a viable entity in hardcore, along with his many side projects such as BILLYBIO and Powerflo (Billy’s collab with Sen Dog Reyes from Cypress Hill). Not to mention the myriad of side projects enjoyed by Evan during his hiatus from the band. But now the tides have changed, and OG Biohazard has returned to stomp a mudhole in all of our little hardcore hearts. I, for one, am LOVING it. As a side note, I’ve actually met Billy several times, and he’s truly a great guy.
While the original line-up actually reunited in 2023, their first full-length release is forthcoming. ‘Divided We Fall’ is an 11-track explosion of the best offering of hardcore available to date. The band doesn’t necessarily consider themselves hardcore, but….you know, close enough. The aggression erupts straightaway with “F*ck the System”, a raucous anthem rife with all the discourse involved with modern society in 2025. Billy and Bobby really shine with their collective guitar work, laying out superb and complicated solos, and the groove riffs are nothing less than genius.
“Forsaken” is the first single that was released from the album. I suggest you check out the video on YouTube. This one also has a handful of frantic solos and a repeating chorus that is downright infectious. “Eyes on Six” is the second single released, which also has a companion video. This song is a badass ode to watching your back, keep your circle tight, keep your eyes on the six. “Death of Me” is the third and most recent single released. With a bit of a slower tempo than most tracks, but again, it has an amazing riff complemented by a shouty chorus that is one of Biohazard’s signature characteristics. I think “…why won’t you listen to me?” is something we’ve all felt at some point or another. “Word to the Wise” has that driving drumbeat we’ve come to crave while mixing in more groove baselines, which is what has always made Biohazard stand out. “Warriors” starts with a vocal bridge that repeats periodically, which is kind of different for BH, but it’s also kind of cool. “Fight to be Free”, “War Inside Me”, “S.I.T.F.O.A.”, “Tear Down the Walls”, “I Will Overcome”, they ALL have that kick-you-in-the-face quality that Biohazard fans know and love. This is old-school BH, reminiscent of an “Urban Discipline” or “State of the World Address”.
All of the tracks on this record have overarching themes of freedom and community while navigating the inner turmoil of the individual, juxtaposed with the harsh realities of life in general. On the surface, it sounds gritty, angry. Below the surface, it percolates with a kind of aggressive positivity, almost a toxic confidence that cannot be denied. By any means.
‘Divided We Fall’ is absolutely the best Biohazard material to date. Evan and Billy are a dynamic duo in the metal industry and have reignited the fire, falling right back into step as evidenced by their singular AND combined vocal talents along with the united guitar front of Billy and Bobby and the insanely savage drumming of Danny. Definitely HIGHLY recommended for any metal fan. You’ll find something about it you’ll like on first listen.
