The legal war inside Jane’s Addiction is heating up.
Perry Farrell’s legal team has fired back after news broke that former bandmates Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins have sued him for assault, emotional distress, and breach of contract. In a strongly worded statement, Farrell’s lawyers dismissed the claims as part of a “coordinated effort to isolate and bully” the frontman.
“This is yet another clear example of the group uniting to isolate and bully frontman Perry Farrell,” the statement reads.
“The timing of this baseless lawsuit is no coincidence—it was filed only after they caught wind of legal action coming from our side.”
Farrell’s team also accused the others of trying to control the narrative, calling their lawsuit “a transparent attempt” to make themselves look like the victims:
“Just like when they released a defamatory and entirely unfounded statement about Perry’s mental health and unilaterally canceled the remaining tour dates without his input, they’re once again scrambling to get ahead of the truth in a desperate effort to save face.”
$10 Million in Damages Over Canceled Tour and Album
As reported earlier by TMZ, Navarro filed for assault and battery over an alleged on-stage altercation that took place during the band’s show in Boston on September 13, 2024. He claims Farrell shoved and punched him both onstage and backstage, leading to the cancellation of the remainder of the tour and a scrapped new album.
Navarro, Avery, and Perkins are now seeking at least $10 million in damages, citing major financial losses and emotional harm.
In a recent interview, Navarro made his stance clear:
“It was my least favorite gig that I have ever played,” he said, effectively ruling out any future reunion of the classic lineup.
With legal threats now coming from both sides, the collapse of Jane’s Addiction has turned into a high-profile and very public battle—one that could drag on for months, if not years.
