After a health scare that had fans worried, Scorpions drummer Mikkey Dee has addressed rumors suggesting he was leaving the band. In a recent post on Instagram, Dee shot down the speculation, calling the reports “FAKE!”
The drummer shared a screenshot of the rumors circulating about his departure, labeling the image with the bold word ‘FAKE!’ and adding in his caption: “NO, I AM NOT LEAVING SCORPIONS!”
He further clarified, “I am back home recovering from Sepsis and doing good progress! Never mind these b*stards making up fake stories. If it’s not on my official pages, don’t trust a word.”
Dee’s health issue, Sepsis, is a potentially life-threatening condition that results from the body’s response to infection, leading to widespread inflammation and possibly organ failure. Mikkey Dee had previously opened up about his battle with Sepsis on his Facebook page, explaining the severity of his condition during the holiday season. “Just a quick statement about what has been happening to me these past three weeks. This holiday season, I have been hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (Sepsis). I was admitted for three weeks but now I am home fighting this b*stard bacteria. Thankfully, I have received fantastic care at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, my hometown,” he had written.
Now recovering at home, Dee has expressed his optimism about his health and upcoming plans with the band. “After several operations, I am now back home and the numbers are all going in the right direction. Still lots of recovery and rehab in front of me. Now, I’m working 100% to be back on the drum stool for the Residency that starts off in Las Vegas on February 27. We have a tremendous 2025 to look forward to, celebrating 60 years of ‘Scorpions’ and many exciting gigs around the world.”
Despite the recent health challenges, Mikkey Dee is eager to return to performing, confident that he will be ready for the band’s much-anticipated shows and their celebration of 60 years of Scorpions.
