Wes Scantlin, the frontman of PUDDLE OF MUDD, was arrested earlier this week following a violent confrontation with his girlfriend, according to reports from TMZ. Authorities responded to a call at an apartment in Torrance, California, around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11. After speaking with both Scantlin and his girlfriend, officers concluded that the dispute, which began as a verbal argument, escalated into a physical altercation.
In addition to the altercation, the 52-year-old musician was found to be in possession of a small quantity of a controlled substance. Scantlin was taken into custody at 4:01 a.m. and booked at 5:12 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Inmate Information Center. He is facing charges of felony domestic violence and possession of a controlled substance. As of Saturday morning, Scantlin remained incarcerated in a Los Angeles County Jail, with his bail set at $90,000.
This incident follows a series of troubling events for Scantlin, who made headlines earlier this month after alleging that an ex-bandmate “roofied” him before a disastrous PUDDLE OF MUDD performance at Daytona Bike Week.
Scantlin’s arrest comes just eight months after another run-in with the law in Burbank, California, where he was detained for an outstanding warrant and charged with resisting arrest.
